With tryouts just around the corner, the coaching staff wants the athletes to be prepared for what to expect and what is expected of them. The athletes will be evaluated by the coaching staff on the specific skills of volleyball i.e., serving, passing, setting, hitting, and defense. They will be put through a series of physical tests that are essential to the sport of volleyball. The athletes will also be evaluated on coach-ability, attitude, effort and other attributes we feel are important to the structure of a successful team. After the conclusion of tryouts, the players will be put on teams.
One of the toughest jobs for any coach is the final decision about which players make the team, and which do not. Please understand the Big Sky coaching staff strives to make all decisions fairly, without bias, and after careful evaluation of each prospective student athlete.
Players are expected to be prepared for high intensity practices beginning on August 14th. Players need to bring the proper playing shoes, a water bottle, and knee pads. There will be no practice shirts for the first week.
If the player has not turned in ALL paperwork to the office, including a completed physical, she cannot participate in tryouts. ALL PAPERWORK IS DUE PRIOR TO 8/14
Upperclassmen Only: 4:30pm-6:30pm
Freshmen may be moved to a different session after the first day, depending on skill level. This does not guarantee the player makes a higher team. This is for the coaches to further evaluate the athlete.*
