Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with Missoula County Public Schools. Our District is proud to foster a strong partnership between our employees and the hundreds of parents and community members who dedicate their time and knowledge to enhancing educational services in our schools.  There are many ways to volunteer at MCPS. You can directly assist a teacher in the classroom, or work with an organization that provides additional services in our schools, such as Flagship, Missoula Writing Coaches of Missoula, or Missoula Aging Services.

All volunteers in Missoula County Public Schools must register and, depending on their duties, complete a background check before working in a school or classroom. Volunteers may become Supervised or Unsupervised volunteers.  It is simple process and can be completed online.

  • Supervised status refers to volunteers that may only have contact with students in the presence/supervision of an MCPS employee or approved program supervisor.
  • Unsupervised status refers to volunteers that may have contact with students without the presence/supervision of an MCPS employee (i.e. teacher, administrator).

  2. Confidentiality Agreement (pdf version)

Unsupervised volunteers must complete:

  2. Confidentiality Agreement (pdf version)
  3. Background Check Form (pdf version) and $6.00 Processing Fee

Submitting Background Checks:  A background check from may be submitted online and the processing fee of $6.00 may be paid online with a credit card.  Volunteers also have the option to complete the "hard copy" background form and submit both the form and $6.00 (cash or check) to the Administration Building, 215 South 6th Street West, Missoula, MT  59801.  Checks must be made payable to MCPS and must include the volunteers name in the memo line.
